JONESBORO, Ark. -- Abram Murray kicked a 40-yard field goal with 1:49 remaining and Gavin Howard had a game-sealing interception with a minute to go as UL Monroe took down Arkansas State 19-17 on Saturday.

The Warhawks (2-7, 2-3 Sun Belt Conference) won their second straight against Arkansas State (4-5, 2-3), which had won the previous 15 before last season's 28-16 ULM win in Monroe.

Austin Carlisle led the Warhawks ground attack with 111 rushing yards on 19 carries, and Don Chaney added 68 on 12. Carlisle also completed all four of his passing attempts for 31 yards.

Taking over with just under six minutes remaining after an Arkansas State field goal made it 17-16, the Warhawks marched down the field in seven plays and ran off almost four minutes of clock to set up Murray's 40-yarder.

Arkansas State took over and got to their own 44-yard line before Howard intercepted a Trey Owens pass.

ULM picked up the one first down they needed to secure the win.

Owens was 16-of-29 passing for 193 yards and a touchdown, connecting with Jaylen Bonelli on three passes for 66 yards. He threw two interceptions and fumbled once.
