Trump on midterm results: 'I think part of it was Iran'
President Donald Trump said he was "a little bit surprised" by the midterm results and that he thought Republicans would "do better" during a lengthy phone interview with Fox News.
Asked what his takeaways are on the results, Trump said, "I think part of it was Iran," and later drew a more direct link between Iran and gas prices.
"People agree with what I'm doing on Iran, but they really probably weren't willing to do the short-term consequence of paying more for gasoline, and that, you know, I understand that," he said.
Trump said he would work with Democrats and, when asked if he would accept tonight’s election results, responded, "Yeah, sure, I’ll accept. Why wouldn't I?"
He said he doesn't view the results as "a hit on me."
"We've had the greatest two years in the history of the presidency in terms of the economy, in terms of all the things that we've done," he said.

An excited Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer took a victory lap after Democrats are projected to also win control of the Senate, lamenting Republicans for embracing President Trump, pointing directly at him as the reason why Republicans lost control of Congress.
“We listened to the American people…We listened. They didn't," Schumer said.
Schumer brushed aside concern about Trump vowing to become the “veto President,” telling reporters, "Look, we're going to deliver for the people of America with or without the president."
