2 dead, 2 injured in shooting at California state beach: Authorities
Moss Landing State Beach is closed in the wake of the shooting.
Two people were killed and another two injured in a shooting at a California state beach, authorities said.
Authorities responded to the Moss Landing State Beach in Moss Landing shortly before 2 a.m. local time Monday for reports of shots fired, authorities said

Two people were found dead at the scene, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, according to Comd. Andrew Rosas with the Monterey County Sheriff's Office.
A third person was transported from the scene to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Rosas. A fourth person arrived at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds and their current condition is unknown, he said.
Detectives are continuing to process the scene on Jetty Road and determine what unfolded, Rosas said. The two deceased people have yet to be identified, he said.
"We have no information on whether these individuals knew each other. We have no details whatsoever," Rosas said during a press briefing on Monday. "This is an active scene, and they are in the process of trying to determine exactly what happened."
Rosas said it will be a "lengthy investigation" to assess what happened.

The beach closes at sunset, so "these people were here after hours," Chief Park Ranger Mike Dippel with California State Parks, said during the briefing.
Jetty Road and Moss Landing State Beach are closed in the wake of the shooting until further notice, the sheriff's office said.
"There is no active threat to the Moss Landing Community at this time," the Monterey County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.
