Ty'ray Davis' 4 total touchdowns lead West Florida to 42-14 win over Central Arkansas

CONWAY, Ark. -- Ty’ray Davis accounted for four touchdowns, and West Florida clinched its second straight win as a Division I member, defeating Central Arkansas 42-14 on Saturday night.

West Florida started its football program in 2016 and won the Division II championship in 2019 before beginning the transition to Division I this season. The Argonauts defeated Southern Illinois 34-31 in their opener.

On Saturday, the Argonauts, No. 25 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25, won their United Athletic Conference debut rolling up 404 yards, blocking a punt to set up a touchdown and turning three takeaways into 14 points.

On the first play from scrimmage after Eli Bertrand blocked a punt, Davis scored on a 7-yard run for a 7-0 West Florida lead. He added touchdown passes of 35 yards to Brite Cannon, 8 yards to Tyler Dostin and 42 yards to Gage Armbruster.

Davis completed 14 of 17 passes for 227 yards and added 75 yards rushing on nine carries.

Donovyn Omolo passed for 197 yards and ran for 125 for the Bears (1-1, 0-1 UAC).
