Trump admin updates: Trump plans to issue executive order to require voter ID

Dan Scavino, a senior advisor to the president, is taking over as director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office, which is in charge of handling staffing within the administration, a White House official confirmed to ABC News on Tuesday.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt praised Scavino in a statement to ABC News, adding that no one else is better suited for the role.

"There is much still to be done and Dan's leadership will ensure the highest quality, most dedicated workforce ever," she said.

Scavino is Trump's longest-serving aide and succeeds Sergio Gor, who Trump nominated to be ambassador to India.

John Bolton, President Donald Trump's former national security adviser who had his home and office searched by federal agents last week, is out with a new op-ed criticizing Trump's approach to the Russia-Ukraine war.

"President Donald Trump's Ukraine policy is no more coherent today than it was last Friday when his administration executed search warrants against my home and office. Collapsing in confusion, haste, and the absence of any discernible meeting of the minds among Ukraine, Russia, several European countries, and America, Trump's negotiations may be in their last throes, along with his Nobel Peace Prize campaign," Bolton wrote for the Washington Examiner.

Sources familiar with the matter told ABC News that the search, carried out by the FBI, was related to allegations that Bolton is in possession of classified records. Trump, a frequent critic of Bolton, told reporters that he didn't know about the FBI search of Bolton's house.

President Donald Trump on Tuesday morning sounded off on the Cracker Barrel logo redesign -- a move that's prompted fan backlash.

Cracker Barrel should go back to the old logo, admit a mistake based on customer response (the ultimate Poll), and manage the company better than ever before," Trump wrote on his social media platform. "They got a Billion Dollars worth of free publicity if they play their cards right. Very tricky to do, but a great opportunity. Have a major News Conference today. Make Cracker Barrel a WINNER again."

The chain restaurant, founded in 1969, said in a lengthy statement shared to its website Monday that the company "could've done a better job sharing who we are." The changes include a new minimalist logo and restaurant decor.

Republican legislators from Indiana are set to meet on Tuesday with officials from the White House. ABC News reported last week that it's expected mid-decade redistricting will be discussed, as the White House ramps up pressure on Indiana state lawmakers to redraw congressional districts ahead of next year's midterm elections.

Spokespeople for Indiana state Rep. Todd Huston, the Speaker of the Indiana House, and state Sen. Rodric Bray, President pro tempore of the state Senate, confirmed to ABC News on Tuesday that Huston and Bray are joining the meeting.

A spokesperson for Bray said redistricting was not listed as part of the agenda; the meetings have been framed to press as similar to ones that the White House has held with other states about collaborating.

The White House, however, has openly indicated it would like Indiana to redraw its maps, as part of a broader push for the Republican Party to pick up more U.S. House seats in the 2026 midterm elections and bolster its slim majority.
